Zandra designs flags to decorate the roof of the Southbank Center for Summer 2018

Summer 2018 at the Southbank Centre was very a colourful, playful and (B)old occasion.

Zandra created ten bespoke patterned designs; each one featuring both the yellow colour-way synonymous with Southbank venues, and Zandra’s own trademark pink Lipstick motifs. With ten designs in total, each one relevant to her longstanding career they fluttered gracefully along the roof of the Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall and were designed by the Dame herself for 2018’s (B)old Festival.

In 2018, (B)old profiled artists aged 65 years and over, who are established in their practice and recognised nationally or internationally for their work.

“There are 43 flags to go round royal festival hall and queen Elisabeth hall, and I thought they needn’t all be the same… so I’ve done designs which contain things I consider very classic to my life.” – Zandra Rhodes
